Volunteer User Agreement

1. Who We Are

https://waytego.com is a site operated by Waytego Limited ("We"). We are a limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 15530154 and have our registered office at 34 Murray Road, London, England, SW19 4PE.

Waytego runs a digital platform that helps people in the UK discover volunteering opportunities with organisations that are a UK registered charity, CIO, CIC, or other recognised not-for-profit organisation (collectively ‘charities’ for the purposes of these Volunteer Referral Terms).

Waytego is a mission-led company created to inspire and enable positive social and environmental impact across the UK. Our platform connects volunteers with local charities and community organisations, helping people contribute their time and skills where they can make the greatest difference. We believe that volunteering strengthens wellbeing, builds community, and supports the organisations that sustain local life. Every decision we make is guided by this mission — to make service a win-win for volunteers, charities, and the communities they serve.

We simply make introductions — we don't recruit, employ or manage volunteers. Waytego is not an employment agency or employment business, and we don't charge volunteers any fees.

2. Using the Platform

You must be 18 or over and live in the UK to register.

You create a personal profile with your name, contact details, location, skills and interests. Please keep your details accurate and up to date.

Don't upload DBS certificates, health or criminal-record information — those checks happen directly with the charity.

You can delete your account at any time and we'll remove your personal data within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for all details as to how we handle your personal data.

3. What We Do (and Don't Do)

We show you volunteer roles listed by charities. You can express interest for a volunteer role. In that case we will send an introduction email to the charity, with a short paragraph generated by AI (based on the information you have provided) about why you are suitable for the role (for example time availability, skills). The short paragraph is automatically generated using artificial intelligence based only on the information you have entered. We do not use this for profiling or decision-making with legal or similar effects. You can optionally add a custom paragraph to your expression of interest, about why you are interested and are suitable — the contents of which you are solely responsible for. When you click 'Express interest' we share your contact details, the AI generated paragraph, and any custom paragraph created by you to the charity.

We don't:

  • act as intermediary (aside from forwarding your initial expression of interest, after which we have no further role),
  • shortlist or interview anyone
  • verify charities or volunteers
  • arrange or supervise volunteer work

Once you contact a charity, everything that follows is between you and them.

4. Charities' Responsibilities

Each charity is solely responsible for:

  • identity, reference and DBS checks
  • confirming your right to volunteer in the UK
  • insurance, health & safety and safeguarding
  • training, supervision and reimbursement of expenses (if any)
  • equality, inclusion and complaints handling

Do not start volunteering until the charity confirms any required checks or cover are in place.

5. Safeguarding and Wellbeing

If you have a safeguarding concern, report it to the charity straight away — and to the relevant authorities if needed.

If we become aware of a credible risk linked to a listing, we may suspend or remove it and, where appropriate, notify regulators.

6. Feedback and Testimonials

We may ask for feedback to help improve our service.

If you give us a testimonial, you grant us a free, non-exclusive licence to use it in marketing (for example on our website).

We'll only publish it with your consent, and you can withdraw future use at any time.

7. Data Protection

See our Privacy Policy for details of how we handle, store and protect your data and your rights under the UK GDPR.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be limited.

Otherwise, Waytego is not responsible for:

  • the acts or omissions of charities
  • the safety, suitability or quality of volunteer roles
  • loss or damage arising from volunteering itself
  • indirect or consequential loss

For any loss directly arising from your use of the Platform, our total liability is capped at £100 in aggregate.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

9. Acceptable Use

Please use the Platform lawfully and respectfully.

Do not upload false, unlawful, discriminatory or misleading information, or attempt to interfere with the Platform's operation.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

10. Service Changes and Termination

We may make reasonable changes to the Platform or these terms.

If the change is material, we'll give you 30 days notice by email.

If you don't agree, you may delete your account before the new terms take effect.

You can close your account at any time.

11. Governing Law

These terms apply to users resident in the UK and are governed by English law.

Any dispute will be dealt with by the English courts (non-exclusive jurisdiction).
